The Cú Chulainn Blood Bikes charity has come to the rescue of a nursing home in Co Cavan which found itself running short of vital personal protective equipment in the current Covid-19 public health emergency. Blood Bikes volunteer Jim Smith arrived at the local air field in Mountnugent with two boxes of equipment for the staff of the Sheelin nursing home, which is situated nearby.

Jim utilised his plane to make the delivery of face masks and face shields so all the group’s bikes could stay in service to meet the current intensive level of demand for their services across the country. Cú Chulainn Blood Bikes have been volunteering in not for profit transport for the hospitals in the HSE North Eastern region. They are accepting donations on their website to assist their work during the Covid-19 crisis with fuel the main cost that they have to meet.
