A call was made at last week’s meeting of the Monaghan Municipal District by Independent local public representative Seamus Treanor for the incoming Government to respond to the widespread demand for the State pension qualification age to be brought back to 65.

The issue, which figured prominently in the General Election campaign, had been the subject of a call by the Municipal District on Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection Regina Doherty TD, and at the recent meeting correspondence in response was received from Aoibhinn Wrenn of the Department of Employment Affairs Pensions…
