History suggests another humdinger


Monaghan have played Donegal so much over the last ten years that matches between them are almost akin to being a derby at this stage. This Sunday, the two counties will clash again.

The Tír Chonaill side will host the game which could be a deciding factor. No matter what most managers say, the vast majority of games in the league and championship on an annual basis are won by the hosts.

Some counties are notoriously less potent on the road. Some counties are a wholly different kettle of fish on home ground. Donegal is a county that sports a particularly good record as hosts. But Monaghan have become hardened travellers as their self-assurance, self-belief, ambition and confidence has soared and solidified to varying degrees…
