Garda strategy is working says Chief Superintendent

The expedient arrest of five suspects and the recovery of the stolen property following a robbery at a Monaghan Town mobile phone outlet at the weekend showed that the strategy being employed by the Gardaí to deal with this form of crime was proving effective, Garda Chief Superintendent John O’Reilly told Tuesday’s meeting of the Co Monaghan Joint Policing Committee.

Five men were arrested after an estimated €50,000 worth of stock was taken from the 3 mobile phone retail outlet at Church Square in Monaghan Town. Entry was gained by smashing through the glass of the front door of the premises. The incident occurred around 2.30 am on Saturday morning.
