COMMISSIONER CHALLENGED BY MONAGHAN FF COUNCILLOR OVER SHORTAGE OF GARDA CARS

The urgent need to provide additional transport resources to the Gardaí in Monaghan and Cavan was emphasised to Garda Commissioner Drew Harris by Fianna Fáil member of Monaghan Co Council Raymond Aughey on Tuesday. Councillor Aughey availed of Commissioner Harris’ presence at a meeting of the Co Monaghan Joint Policing Committee to forcefully make the case for an additional ten patrol cars to be allocated to the local force, citing concerns about Garda transport resources voiced by Chief Superintendent John O’Reilly at recent JPC meetings.

“We can’t expect the Gardaí to walk to crime locations,” Councillor Aughey declared at one point in the discussion.
