Fine Gael Leader Launches Party Campaign in Monaghan

“This is not the time for the Fianna Fáil Junior B team!” Minister Heather Humphreys put the boot in and chose a football analogy as she helped to launch the Fine Gael general election campaign in Monaghan yesterday. It came less than 24 hours after President Higgins, at the request of Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, had formally dissolved the 32nd Dáil.

With the starting gun fired, the electorate in Cavan Monaghan and elsewhere throughout the country will now prepare to go to the polls on February 8th, the first time in the history of the state that a Saturday has been chosen for a general election. Heather Humphreys joined outgoing Taoiseach and party leader Leo Varadkar and three of her Cabinet colleagues…
