The Minister for Health Simon Harris TD has said almost 200 additional hospital beds will be available by the end of the month, as figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show the level of hospital overcrowding has reached a record level. The Minister acknowledged that this week would be very demanding and challenging for the health service, but he believed flu levels had peaked.
