€6 MILLION MODERNISATION AND UPGRADE OF CASTLEBLAYNEY WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

Irish Water, working in partnership with Monaghan Co Council, has completed the upgrade of the Castleblayney wastewater treatment plant in a €6 million modernisation project. The plant was originally constructed in the 1980s. An Irish Water media release stated: “The mechanical and electrical equipment had exceeded its operational life and required an upgrade. These works will ensure that the wastewater treatment plant is fully compliant with EU Urban Wastewater Directives and will bring environmental benefits to the area as well as providing the capacity for future growth. “EPS Group carried out the works on behalf of Irish Water.
