Fr Stephen Joyce has been installed as the new Parish Priest of Tydavnet by Bishop Larry Duffy of Clogher. The rite of Induction and Installation took place during the regular Sunday Mass at St Mary’s Church, Urbleshanny. After Bishop Duffy’s homily, the new Parish Priest was inducted by hearing his rights and responsibilities read aloud. He then made a Profession of Faith following which he was formally installed by the Bishop.

To mark his responsibility to preach the Gospel and administer the sacraments, he was presented with the Lectionary of Readings from the Word of God. To symbolise his canonical authority in the parish, he was also presented with the key of the parish church. These were brought up by his parents, Michael and Kathleen from Carrickmacross. Fr Joyce was then presented to his parishioners, with whom he will journey in faith. Bishop Duffy and Fr Joyce were joined by the retired Parish Priest (PE) of Tydavnet Fr Brian Early who was congratulated on his fifty years as a priest.

Also present were Canon Shane Mc- Caughey, PP Castleblayney along with Fr Adrian Walsh…
