Joe Dillon jnr was only too happy to go back to his roots when the gaels of Magheracloone asked him to help them dig themselves out of a hole, literally. The story of Magheracloone GAA’s sink hole was the talk of the country for a while and in Joe Dillon’s home patch in nearby Kingscourt, sympathy and support were offered in equal measure to their Monaghan neighbours.

Joe, son of former Cavan star Joe Dillon snr, is a 26 year old strength and conditioning coach with a burgeoning reputation. So much so that he is fast becoming known for his career than his own star spangled playing career which saw him win one Ulster MFC medal, three Ulster U21 medals and a Cavan SFC gong with his home club Kingscourt Stars.

Joe spent the first few months of his life in Magheracloone before his mam and dad upped sticks to move across the county border and settle for good in their native Kingscourt. How ironic, nay, how timely, was it that Magheracloone’s onetime son would become a key member of…
