The Paul Kerr Cup is back in Co Monaghan after Blackhill won the AIB Ulster Club JFC Final in some style at Healy Park last Saturday. Having recovered from a string of county JFC Final defeats to finally get over the line in 2016, Blackhill went on to lose by a point in this fixture against Rock from Tyrone that November.

A possibility of a rematch with the three-time Ulster JFC winners was ended when Buncrana ousted Rock in a semi-final penalty shoot-out, which saw the Donegal side carry the mantle of favourites into the provincial decider. A long-time Intermediate side with a sprinkling of current and former county players in their ranks, Buncrana provided a major threat to Blackhill, which was underlined when they raced into a 0-5 to 0-1 lead. 2012 All-Ireland winner Ryan Bradley and Darach ‘Jigger’ O’- Connor posed problems in those early stages, but with the immense Dónal Courtney’s firefighting bailing Blackhill out on…
