Monaghan champions bid for Ulster Club hat-trick

It’s a big weekend for Monaghan’s representatives in the AIB Ulster Club Football Championships, with a title and two final places up for grabs. First into action are Blackhill, who contest their second Ulster Club JFC Final in four years when they take on Buncrana in Omagh on Saturday.

A dramatic extra-time win over Killinkere saw Blackhill show their mettle, but they will need all of that – plus a good deal more accuracy in front of goals – if they are to go a step further than their 2016 final defeat to Rock. Blackhill left a glut of chances behind them last time out and they now face a step up against a Buncrana side who ousted Rock in a shoot-out. Buncrana had a string of comprehensive wins en route to winning the Donegal JFC and they now bid to keep the title in the north west.
