Donaghmoyne’s bid to win a sixth All-Ireland Ladies Senior Football Club title came unstuck last Sunday when they bowed out of the competition at the penultimate round stage on the back of a 1-10 to 2-13 defeat to hosts Mourneabbey. Mourneabbey – who claimed the All-Ireland title last year – put behind them a less than inspiring first half showing to go on and dominate matters in the second half before eventually winning with a bit to spare.
In what was a repeat of the 2015 national decider, the Farneysiders did most of their best work in the opening half but sadly were greatly out-played on the restart and managed to add just a single point to their half-time tally.
