Recently retired principal of St Louis Secondary School, Monaghan, Vera O’Brien saw a long-cherished dream realised on Monday with the official opening of the school’s new extension. She is pictured by Northern Standard photographer Rory Geary about to address the ceremony watched by Alastair Keys of Keys and Monaghan Architects, and Dept of Education architects Ben McCabe and Ciaran O’Brien. Current school principal Margaret Conlon said on Monday: “Without Vera’s persistence, commitment, dedication, stubbornness…this project would not have come to fruition.” (See page 16 for story by Veronica Corr and more pics by Rory Geary)
