FAILTE IRELAND BOOST TO PROMOTE LOUGH MUCKNO TOURISM

THE SCENIC surrounds of Concra Wood Golf and Country Club, overlooking the unrivalled picturesque beauty of Lough Muckno at Castleblayney, was the scene for a very productive morning of networking, idea sharing, and showcasing of the latest initiatives to promote and boost tourism in Co. Monaghan, on Tuesday last. The Cathaoirleach of the County Council, Cllr. Seamus Coyle was joined by the Co. Monaghan Tourism Officer Dympna Condra, and a number of representatives from the Co. Monaghan Enterprise Office, the County Council, and Failte Ireland, at the launch of a major promotional drive, aimed at attracting huge visitor numbers to the county.

The drive was accepted as having the full support of Failte Ireland, which has long recognized the huge tourism potential of Lough Muckno, which is very frequently dubbed by visirors from near and far, as ‘the Killarney of the North’. The programme on Tuesday opened with a special workshop which examined “Developing Tourism Experiences in Monaghan” It was organised by Monaghan County Council and Monaghan Local Enterprise Office in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland.
