Two meetings between officials of Monaghan Co Council and representatives of EirGrid/ESB Networks had taken place since the granting of planning permission for the north-south electricity interconnector development, the most recent of which was in September 2018, the members of Monaghan Co Council were informed at their October meeting. The information emerged in a response to a question placed on the agenda by Council Cathaoirleach Seamus Coyle.

The Fianna Fáil representative asked: “In relation to the proposed north-south 400Kv interconnector, have any meetings or communications occurred between Monaghan Co Council and EirGrid/ESB Networks and can this Council confirm that details, notes and attendees of any such meetings, were they to take place, would be placed on file for public inspection?” The written response to the question read: “Two meetings between Council officials and EirGrid/ESB Networks have taken place since a decision was made by An Bord Pleanála…
