Music fans and town centre hospitality venues alike reaped a rich dividend from last weekend’s Harvest Time Blues festival in Monaghan. The John Fairhurst Trio, pictured by John Nutley in the throes of their Saturday night Squealing Pig performance, were just one of a stellar selection of blues acts from the US, Europe and much closer to home that brought the crowds flocking to participating hostelries and the Diamond Marquee.

The launch of the festival on Thursday night saw a spectacular arrival from Jimmy Cornett and the Deadmen, who completed their trip from Hamburg in Germany by being transported into town by members of the Blood Bikers, who had a charity event running in tandem with the musical celebration.
