DIFFERENTLY ABLED, DISTINCTLY TALENTED – COURTHOUSE SHOWCASE FOR CO MONAGHAN DISABILITY NETWORK MEMBERS

Various components of the Co Monaghan Disability Network availed of a showcase opportunity at the forecourt of Monaghan Courthouse on Thursday morning last to show and tell the passing public a little about their talents and ambitions. The Ability Event, held on the verdant green space which has afforded many components of the North Monaghan community the opportunity to stage entertainments and presentations during the month of August, struck a resoundingly positive note.

Different groups from within the network manned stalls displaying their craft abilities, projects they were engaged in and examples of their broad range of educational, cultural, sporting and workplace achievements. Cathaoirleach of Monaghan Co Council, Councillor Seamus Coyle, Cavan/Monaghan Senator Robbie Gallagher, Co Council member Raymond Aughey and the Defence Forces rights activist and charity campaigner Jimmy Mee were among the many who engaged with the exhibitors as the county’s disability network proactively put into action its pledge to “get the word out about the abilities of people with disabilities” and its stated aim to advocate for the meaningful inclusion and integration…
