Local beef farmers are becoming more and more exasperated as meat processors took action at the High Court in Dublin yesterday in an attempt to end pickets at meat plants. Several named individuals in the Beef Plan movement remain under threat of legal action from meat processors if they become involved in pickets at meat plants. ABP which has a plant in Clones and Dawn Meats secured temporary injunctions restraining named protesters, or anyone acting in concert with them or with knowledge of the court’s orders, from blockading a number of their meat plants.

There were reports yesterday of pickets outside plants in Waterford City and Ferrybank, and in Ballinasloe, Rathdowney and Bandon, as well as several other locations. The two meat companies said they had no alternative but to take the action to protect their …
