DOCTOR, DOCTOR!

Twins, Dr. Caoimhe and Dr. Niamh McCarville have the unusual distinction of both recently graduating as doctors after six years of study at Bristol and Keele Universities respectively.

The twins were born and raised in Reading in the UK, but their parents Leo and Deirdre both hail from South Monaghan. Caoimhe and Niamh are very aware of their Monaghan connections and visit the county often to see their proud grandparents Leo and Eileen McCarville from Reilly’s Cross, Shercock Road, Carrickmacross, and Brendan and Rose McCaul from Magheracloone.

Both doctors have completed their general medical degrees and are about to embark upon two years of foundation training in hospitals, which they need to complete before they can decide on whether to train as GPs or hospital consultants. Their father Leo told The Northern Standard that the family had discovered that, up until now, there wasn’t a Dr. McCarville on either the Irish or UK Registers of Medical Doctors, and now there are two!
