Cllr Paudge Connolly re-iterated his opposition to the system used by Monaghan County Council to allocate Chairs and Committee seats at this month’s meeting of the local authority. At the recent Annual General Meeting, Cllr Connolly had walked out to show his disgust at how the process of dividing up positions on the Council had been decided by the three main political parties, which he said had not treated the three independent members as a group.

In his absence, he was proposed and seconded to become the Leas Cathaoirleach. However at Monday’s Council meeting, he said he would not be accepting that position or any positions that carried any monetary element.
