TYDAVNET SHOW LAUNCH SETS SCENE FOR 68TH EVENT ON AUGUST 15TH

Wednesday night last saw a packed attendance congregate for the launch of the 68th Tydavnet Show in the community centre of the village that bears the same name. Gerard Sherlock acted as MC on the evening and he pointed out that preparation for the next show begins when the annual show ends — there are monthly meetings etc., but the launch acts as a kickstart in the run-up to the event itself.

This year’s chairperson Paula Treanor welcomed distinguished guests including Jim Harrison and Raymond Brady of the Irish Shows Association, Gerard Meehan and Show Queen Rachel Woods (who played the harp before proceedings commenced). Representatives of Castleblayney and Armagh Show were also present and apologies from the committee of Clogher Valley Show. Apologies were also received from Minister Heather Humphreys,

Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin, Bishop Larry Duffy and a number of other invited guests. In her address, Ms. Treanor said that a debt of gratitude was owed to the all of the sponsors, advertisers, traders, exhibitors and landowners, who all came together to make the show a success. Special mention…
