O NEILL PIPE BAND VIDEO IN ISL LAUNCHED IN LEINSTER HOUSE

The national launch of the O’Neill Pipe Band video in Irish Sign Language of the popular hit song ‘Only You’ took place in Leinster House on Tuesday. The unprecedented and arguably historic event, was attended by a large Clontibret contingent and members of the deaf community from Co. Monaghan and elsewhere in the country.

Hosted by Cavan Monaghan Dáil Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin, in his capacity as Chairperson of the Oireachtas Committee on Justice and Equality, the official launch of the video was performed by the Ceann Comhairle of the Dáil Seán Ó Fearghail T.D. The event was also addressed by the Minister of State for Disabilities Finian Mc Grath T.D. and the Chief Executive of the Irish Deaf Society John Sherwin, as well as the Chairperson of the IDS Lianne Quigley.

There was a special applause for both the O’Neill Pipe Band Major Lorna Sherry (nee Morgan) and deaf community activist and ISL exponent Cathy Mc Mullen whose respective talents brought the recording of the Irish Sign Language video through to production.
