The sun had its hat on at the official opening of the new adventure playpark at Rossmore Forest Park on Monday afternoon, as Municipal District Co-ordinator Donal McElwain welcomed the Cathaoirleachs of both the Municipal District and County, Minister Heather Humphreys, Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin, Senator Robbie Gallagher, Richard Jack from Coillte, Shane Raftery from Failte Ireland, Monaghan Town Team, Monaghan County Council Chief Executive Eamonn O’Sullivan along with members and officials from the Local Authority and the children who played an active part in the consultation process.

Cathaoirleach Brian McKenna of Monaghan Municipal District, who had the honour of cutting the tape, expressed his delight at having reached the momentous day. He explained: “It is just one element of the overall development plan for Rossmore – but a very important one. “The council has been working in partnership with Coillte now since 2016 and has undertaken a lot of improvement works since that time.

The trails in the park have all been upgraded and the signage is much improved also,” he observed. He went on to comment that the playpark itself was a major investment in terms of new facilities, with €301,526 being received from the PEACE…
