MONAGHAN OUT-PATIENTS PLACED IN ‘IMPOSSIBLE SITUATION’ SAYS SF COUNCILLOR

Having recently revealed the notified transfer of all orthopaedic outpatient services provided by consultant Mr Khalid S Khan Bhambro from Monaghan Hospital to Cavan General Hospital, Sinn Féin Cllr Brian Mc Kenna says he is continuing his efforts to have this decision reversed.

The outgoing Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council said he had established that the HSE has not approved any more such transfers. “It would appear that Mr Khan’s action was taken unilaterally. If that is the case, it is yet another example of the tail wagging the dog” Cllr McKenna stated. He told The Northern Standard: “There is little public doubt that many consultants are dictating their own terms and conditions of employment. The HSE appears unable, as the employer, to have them stick to their contracts….
