MONAGHAN TOWN MAN (18) REMANDED IN CUSTODY ON NUMEROUS CRIMINAL COUNTS

A YOUNG Monaghan town man was remanded in custody at Monday’s sitting of the local District Court, where he appeared on 66 counts relating to allegations ranging from assaults to criminal damage to road traffic offences including vehicle theft, driving while intoxicated and dangerous driving.

Caolan Myles, aged 18, of 13 Ard Gleann, Killygoan, Monaghan town is accused of having committed 44 of the listed offences — which include numerous public order breaches — in the period since he turned 18 last July, with the remaining 22 alleged to have been committed while he was a juvenile. The most recent allegations before the court were related to an incident at Ard Gleann on 29th January last, in relation to which the defendant is charged with contravening a safety order and putting the applicant in fear, as well as with kicking the wing mirror of another person’s car and behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.
