EFFECT OF BREXIT ON BORDER COMMUNITIES DISCUSSED WITH GERMAN CHANCELLOR ON VISIT TO DUBLIN

Clones businessman Ross Mealiff, the owner of the Hotel Kilmore in Cavan, was among those to meet the German Chancellor Angela Merkel during her visit to Dublin last Thursday to discuss Brexit. Mr Mealiff attended the meeting at Farmleigh to speak about living and running a business in the border region.

An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar TD and the Chancellor held a roundtable discussion with people from Northern Ireland and the border area, sharing their personal experience and perspectives on the impact any return to a hard border would have on border communities and businesses. Angela Merkel was there to discuss the risks of a no deal exit by the UK tomorrow (Friday).
