Ballybay got their first win of this year’s SFL when they won this repeat of the 2018 SFC Final away to Scotstown last Sunday. The county champions fielded ten of the team that won that final in a game marred by an early injury to county man Darren Hughes during a first half that ended with Ballybay five points clear.

Scotstown rallied to cut the gap to one during the second half, but they couldn’t avoid back-to-back narrow defeats, while Ballybay (who had drawn with Carrickmacross in round one) moved onto seven points. The Pearse Brothers also lost a key man to injury when Colm Lennon limped off near the end of the opening half, but after a slow start, a potent Ballybay attack – led by Thomas Kerr, Paul Finlay, the McGuinness brothers and Patrick O’Neill – fired them to…
