Monaghan based LacPatrick Cooperative Society Limited and Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Limited have created history by formally completing a merger of the two societies. The new society is to be called Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Limited, and will be known as ‘Lakeland Dairies’.

A transitional board has been established, including LacPatrick and Lakeland board members, to cover the initial 12- months period after the merger. The completion of the merger has been welcomed by the Irish Farmers’ Association. At the first board meeting of the new Society on Monday, Alo Duffy from Ballybay, Co. Monaghan was appointed Chairman of the Co-operative together with two Vice-Chairs, Colin Kelso from Omagh, Co. Tyrone and Alan McCay from Dunamanagh, near Strabane, Co. Tyrone.
