FIRE DAMAGES COUNCIL OFFICE AT SCOTCH CORNER

Fire damaged a building at the Monaghan County Council waste facility at Scotch Corner near Annyalla early yesterday morning. A brief statement by the Council said the fire, which was attended by the fire brigade, was confined to the office building at the site. Gardaí also attended the scene. A spokesperson said the damage done by the fire had not impacted on the landfill and recycling facility, which is continuing to operate as usual. The owner of the adjoining McElvaney waste and recycling company said it had not been affected and that there was a normal service for customers
