In a sudden twist to the Brexit deliberations at Westminster last night, the British Prime Minister Theresa May promised Conservative MPs she would stand down if they backed her EU withdrawal deal. Mrs May gave no specific date for her departure. But if her deal eventually gets through, a Tory leadership contest could be held sometime around the month of May. Mrs May told the 300 or so Tory MPs at the meeting “we need to get the deal through and deliver Brexit.
