GARDAI INVESTIGATING REPORTS ON BOGUS “TAXI” INCIDENTS

GARDAI are investigating two instances of unusual behaviour on the part of drivers who offered lifts to people seeking to get home after nights out in Monaghan town.
The most recent incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday 9th February, when a couple seeking a taxi had accepted a lift from the Diamond area of Monaghan town.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed that the man and woman had agreed to be carried to the Ballinode/Scotstown area by a non-Irish national.
The person believed to be the driver has in the meantime been identified and questioned about the matter, the spokesperson also revealed.
