MOTHER OF TWO (48) GETS SUSPENDED FOR SENTENCE CAUSING DEATH OF ’BLAYNEY WOMAN IN DANGEROUS DRIVING CASE

A 48-YEAR-OLD woman was yesterday (Wednesday) given a suspended two-year prison sentence at Monaghan Circuit Court for dangerous driving in a case that resulted in the death of popular Castleblayney woman. Rachel Ward of 50 The Crescent, Athlumney Abbey, Navan, Co Meath, a mother of two and solicitor by profession had pleaded guilty to the offence at Clonavogy, Castleblayney on 1st July 2017, causing the death of Mona Clarke (53) an outdoor sports enthusiast and teacher at Beech Hill College. In suspending the sentence for two years, Judge John Aylmer said he was noting Ms Ward’s previous good character and the fact that she had no previous convictions (full report next week).
