Brian Ringland from Rafeenan, Ballinode, called into The Northern Standard recently to share the curious tale of why the higher tax rate applies to fruit juice. Recently, after Mr. Ringland had completed his weekly shop in a local supermarket, he happened to notice that 23% VAT was applied to fruit juice on his receipt.
