“GYPROC WILL NOT BE FOUND WANTING” – MINING COMPANY MD UNDERTAKES TO ADDRESS RESIDENTS’ CONCERNS

An undertaking to address the concerns of the residents of the Magheracloone area arising from the major subsidence issues that have arisen in their midst has been given by the Managing Director of the mining company Gyproc, Mr Brian Dolan. In an open letter to residents which was supplied to the Northern Standard yesterday, Mr Dolan states: “Gyproc fully recognises that while these events are not unusual in the mining of evaporate deposits such as gypsum, they do impact the local community and we again apologise to our neighbours for the upset caused by road closures and loss of access to facilities.”

Mr Dolan was in attendance at a meeting with residents of the Drumgossatt-Knocknacran area held in the Carrickmacross Civic Offices on Tuesday evening. The meeting was also attended by two Government Ministers – Cavan/Monaghan Fine Gael TD Heather Humphreys who holds the Business, Enterprise and Industry portfolio, and Seán Canney TD, Minister of State for Natural Resources, Community Affairs and Digital Development who was accompanied by representatives of his Department.
