The Chief Executive of EirGrid, Mark Foley, was in Belfast on Tuesday to welcome visitors to the headquarters of its northern subsidiary SONI in Castlereagh. The company’s Market Operations Director, Rodney Doyle, gave an update on the integrated single electricity market, which began in October. Jo Aston, Director of Wholesale Markets, Utility Regulator in Northern Ireland, gave the meeting an update on the energy market.

Mr Foley is believed to have reminded the group about the plans for the North South interconnector, which has been put back for two years and is not expected to come on stream until 2023, according to a SONI report.
