TAKE TO THE STREETS OVER HOMELESSNESS – MONAGHAN PEOPLE BEFORE PROFIT CALL

A call for strong local support for a public demonstration in Dublin on December 1 seeking address of the problem of homelessness was made this week by Monaghan People Before Profit’s Paddy Grenham. In a statement to the Northern Standard, Mr Grenham said: “I was delighted to see the turnout at the Four Seasons Hotel in Monaghan Town last Thursday for the talk on medical cannabis. Over 80 people turned up to greet our guest speakers.

“Sadly the right to medication is not the only issue affecting the people of this country. “Homelessness has reached chronic conditions and several politicians have proven their unwillingness to do anything about it while we have record numbers of homeless people here in Monaghan, to the point where people are dying on park benches. A phone call to Monaghan Co Council confirmed a motion was recently put forward at the Monaghan Municipal District for the opening of a homeless shelter…
