Fine Gael’s new representative on Monaghan County Council will be 34 year-old Richard Truell from Aghabog. He will replace Cllr Eva Humphreys who resigned last month, citing work commitments. Mr Truell, who described himself as ‘a team player’ was the only person to be nominated for co-option at a convention in Newbliss on Monday evening. It’s expected he will be formally approved at next Tuesday’s Council meeting. He has a full time job in the laboratory at Cavan General Hospital. But he told The Northern Standard he hopes to balance the job and his Council commitments. He was proposed by Eddie Hawthorne and seconded by Pauric McPhillips.
