There was unanimous agreement from all fourteen members of Monaghan Co Council present on Tuesday to the adoption of a Budget for 2019 that included a provision for an ARV or Annual Rate on Valuation for the coming year of €59.04, an increase of 2.45% on the 2018 base rate figure.

The Annual Budget Meeting of the local authority was told that the Budget document originally presented to the Corporate Policy Group of the Council had provided for a rates hike of 4.5% but discussions at CPG level had produced adjustments to the figures which meant that the lower rates increase was now being put to the members.

In his Budget document report to the members, Chief Executive Eamonn O’Sullivan pointed out that there were approximately 2,620 rated properties…
