An EirGrid executive has told an Oireachtas committee that the state-owned power company has a new process of engaging communities around Ireland about the need to develop the electricity grid. The company has a new six-step approach where it engages with communities at a much earlier stage, so they had done a lot in Mayo for the North Connacht project, according to Communications Manager Valerie Hedin.
