Gyproc seeks to reassure Magheracloone
public in aftermath of subsidence incident

“Our focus is on supporting our neighbours in the area where we have mined for well over 80 years,” mining company Gyproc told The Northern Standard this week in an exclusive interview which addressed aspects of the major land subsidence incident which occurred in the Magheracloone area on Sunday night/Monday morning September 23/24 last.

Responding to questions from our reporter, the company committed its support to Magheracloone GFC and the families made temporarily homeless as a result of the subsidence, stating that the cost of the incident to the company was not a consideration at present, and that it was “too early” to discuss the issue of compensation.
