A special meeting of Monaghan Co Council has been convened for Monday morning, September 10 next to allow Independents needing local authority nominations to contest the presidential election later this year to make their pitch for the councillors’ favour.
As many as nine of those who have declared their intention to seek a nomination to take part in the October 26 election could avail of the opportunity to address the local authority, although it is unclear at present if all will avail of the opportunity.
One of the routes into the contest is to acquire the nomination of four of the country’s local authorities. Circulated at Monaghan Co Council’s monthly meeting on Monday last was correspondence from Marie Goretti Moylan….
