They had brought colour and excitement to a variety of venues all over the country in Monaghan’s All Ireland qualifier journey – and they descended on Dublin in their tens of thousands, not only from County Monaghan, but Monaghan people domiciled in the capital, and all corners of the country and even some from abroad, to be there on a day that promised to end Monaghan’s Croke Park famine.

It was an occasion that had all the ingredients for a historymaking and historic day, with Monaghan represented on the double in both the minor and the senior All Ireland…..
