Aidan McAnespie’s Family Welcome Move to Prosecute Soldier for Manslaughter

Sitting at their home in Aughnacloy on Tuesday evening, members of the family of Aidan McAnespie were still assessing the news that a former British soldier is to be prosecuted in connection with his death at a border checkpoint thirty years ago. Earlier that day they met representatives of the Northern Ireland Public Prosecution Service in Belfast. It was confirmed that a decision had been taken to prosecute a former British soldier in relation to the death of Mr McAnespie on February 21st 1988. The process carried out by the PPS considered all of the available evidence including a fresh ballistics report…
