Ireland’s energy future, the Minister for Climate Action Denis Naughten TD has said he has no function in the controversial North South interconnector project. He said in a Dáil written answer to Deputy Niamh Smyth (FF) the proposed overhead high voltage line had planning permission on both sides of the border and it was now “an operational matter” for EirGrid and ESB Networks. Anti-pylon campaigners claimed the Minister was insulting their intelligence by these remarks.
