CRISIS LOOMING FOR MONAGHAN SUCKLER SECTOR?

While the numbers involved in the suckler sphere of Co Monaghan agricultural production were holding steady at the present time, a significant withdrawal from the sector could be imminent if national trends were reproduced here, it was stated by Fianna Fáil’s Pádraig McNally at Monday’s meeting of Monaghan Co Council.

Councillor McNally was moving the motion, “That this Council recognises the crisis facing suckler farmers and calls on Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed TD to immediately put in place support measures that will help to save the sector. This sector accounts for thousands of jobs,,,
