THE GARDAÍ WILL LISTEN, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS ASSURED

People who were victims of domestic violence could be assured that their complaints would be listened to by members of the Gardaí even if they had withdrawn complaints against their assailants in the past, Garda Superintendent Noel Cunningham told last week’s meeting of Co Monaghan Joint Policing Committee.

Noting that domestic assault incidents appeared to be falling off in the Co Monaghan area, Superintendent Cunningham said there could sometimes be an issue with domestic assaults of the injured party withdrawing their complaint, which they were entitled to do.
