The strong bonds established between leading plaster and plasterboard manufacturer Gyproc and the localities of Magheracloone and Kingscourt were identified as pivotal factors by company Operations Director Pat O’Connor when he outlined to the Northern Standard the motivations for the new €8 million investment plan for the company’s quarrying operations announced last week.

The development by Gyproc of its quarry at Knocknacran Co Monaghan will see the creation of 44 new jobs and is designed to ensure the long-term supply of gypsum for the manufacture of plaster and plasterboard in Ireland at a time when the construction sector is beginning to experience a …
