BROADBAND ISSUE GOES UNDEBATED AFTER FF COUNTY COUNCILLORS GET INSUFFICIENT SUPPORT FOR STANDING ORDERS’ SUSPENSION

An expected debate on rural broadband failed to materialise at Monday’s meeting of Monaghan Co Council after Fianna Fáil proposals for Standing Orders to be suspended to discuss the issue – and that of the need for more funding for local roads – did not get the necessary support.

There were some sharp exchanges among the various political groupings on the Council as the proposal was discussed at the outset of Monday’s afternoon meeting. It had been the recent custom for members wishing to have pressing business…
