MONAGHAN CO COUNCIL RECEIVES €9.097 MILLION IN LOCAL ROAD GRANTS

It was announced this week that Monaghan Co Council is to receive €9,097,325 for its local roads budget in 2018. Cavan/Monaghan Fine Gael TD and Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Heather Humphreys welcomed what she described as a substantial increase in funding, stating that the figure received by Co Monaghan represented a 19% increase with 2017.

“By any judgement this is a very significant increase in funding year on year,” Minister Humphreys stated. The Co Council allocation is made up of figures of €5,11,000 for restoration improvement; €879,000 for restoration maintenance; €399,500 for supplementary restoration maintenance; a €1,787,000 discretionary grant; €400,000 for bridge rehabilitation works; €185,000 for safety improvement works; €20,000 in specific improvement grants; €8,825 for speed limits; a €40,000 training grant, and €267,000 for drainage works.The specific improvement grants allocation makes provision for works….
